Are there restrictions on the Information / Appearance of my listing?
While there are a number of specific rules that apply to all listings, per the contract, APPRAISERSdotCOM reserves the right to make any changes to a listing to format that listing for appearance with other listings on our site.
While we want to work with our clients in every way possible, the rules we have instituted are necessary to maintain the professional appearance of our site.
When filling our your application, keep the following in mind.
Listing Rules
There are 5 sections to each listing.
Four (4) across the top plus the "Text Section" which extends across the entire listing. In Order, the four top sections are :
- Company and Appraisers
- Address
- Telephone
- Tags (Describes services and provides link to an e-mail address and/or web page link)
General Rules
- Company and Appraisers
- Limited to four (4) lines
- Company Names that are changed will have old name listed as "Formerly XYZ Appr" or "Frmrly with XYZ Appr" for a minimum 6 months under new company name.
- Company Names may be listed as Abbreviation OR Written Name, but not both.
- Company Name may not be listed as a URL unless the Web Page Link Option has been purchased.
- Only one (1) company name may be listed. (except for 6 month period after a company name change.)
- Only Fully Licensed / Certified appraisers may be listed.
- It is not mandatory that an appraiser's name be listed.
- An "Office Mgr" or "Office Asst" may be listed if the title follows the name and sufficient space is available.
- Only Accepted Designations (MAI, SRA, IFA, etc) may be listed after or with appraiser's name.
- If required by state, License Number may be listed after/under appraiser's name.
- Address
- Limited to four (4) lines
- Only one address or PO Box may be listed
- Telephone
- Limited to one number each for Voice (PH), Toll Free (TF), and Fax (FX) number.
- Toll Free numbers must be nationwide.
- Your Office Land Line or Cell Phone number may be listed as the Voice number. If you elect to list your Office Land Line as PH, you may list your Cell Phone number in your text section.
- Tags
- Tags are selected from the Application Form when you apply
- Software limited to location and order of appearance
- Software limited to three (3) in any column
- Email restricted to addresses directly associated with your appraisal company
- Web Pages restricted to locations directly associated with your appraisal company
- Text Section
- Length of text is limited to Three Lines (on a standard monitor, set to its default font and resolution). This is equivalent to approximately 360 characters with spaces (about 50 to 60 words).
- Formatting with in the Text Section is not allowed. All wording is in normal block paragraph format
- Web Page Information may only be mentioned if the Web Page Link Option has been purchased.
- Bold and Underline text is not allowed.
- Exception - When an account is deactivated by removal of contact numbers, bold text is allowed to indicate that "We are not accepting additional orders".
- Repetitive Wording is not allowed (ex "Call Call Call" or "Call Us - Call Us")
- Repetitive Punctuation is limited to three (3) punctuation characters (ex - ... or !!!)
- Capital Letters
With some exceptions, ALL CAPS are not allowed in listings.
Exceptions are allowed for :
- In the text section, the first letter of any word May Be Capitalized For Effect.
- Industry Standard Terms (USPAP, EDI, etc.).
- Industry Accepted Designations (MAI, SRA, CREA, etc.)
- Industry Accepted Abbreviations (REO, FHA, etc.)
- Where a company name is an abbreviation.

- The first letter of each word where parts of a name are combined.

- If space is available, A telephone number spells a specific word/name.
